I am searching for my bio dad and through this I came across a person on LinkedIn who has his name, lives in the state and city I was told he is in, and is in the same profession.
Now I am not a member of LinkedIn but I joined just to email him. I question if I will get a response since he left when I was 2 and now I am 37 but thought I would try. Anyhow when I joined it is said you need to upgrade to a premium membership. If I do this how much does it cost and do I need to make a whole work profile cause I am not interested in that. Also does the person you email have to have a premium membership to get the email?

yes, you have to connect to that person. When you send out the invitation to connect you insert a message.
