In my case just once.

Back in 2008 I did a photo shoot in Colorado. In the contract between me and the guy who shot the pics I had permission by him to post them online. I was paid 400 bucks for doing those photos. Unfortunately sometime in 2011 ( unknown to me ) he had sold the pics to some group out of Toronto. Out of the blue in 2012 I had received a letter from an attorney in Toronto complete with a screen shot of one of my pics from that shoot taken from my Facebook page pretty much saying to take it down or else. At the time I had thought it was a joke. That joke so I had thought had ended being anything but as I will find out in early 2014 when that firm out of Toronto had hired a California firm to go after me. In the end not only did I take down the photo but we settled for 500 bucks which was one hundred more than I was paid to do those pics in the first place. As far as the guy who shot the pics well I never did find out where he was.

It was YOUR PICTURE and you had to take it down??

Unless there is a contract, licensing agreement or the person taking the pictures is your employee they belong to the photographer.

That said the photographer may need a model release when you have specific subject.

I see............... I wouldnt want to have my pic taken by someone else then. (Someone who could sell the pics for example)

Exactly right! The photographer owns the pics, not the ones posing.
