OMG .. Talk about slow/disconnects/non-connects ... Oy Vey!

Remember Draac?
Yes, it was slow, and couldn't get on some websites mainly because technology had passed it by. I didn't have Webtv until 2000. Weird to think what I was willing to do to have internet at home for the first time, using a different track on my tv to have Webtv, meaning I had to miss my football, etc.

Not sure what Draac is. Guessing it had to do with Webtv?

No problem. Anyway, I am currently watching old movies that were once only accessible every now and then on TV and recorded on VHS tapes, which are currently stored in my closet.

It is my understanding that the last VCR was made in July. So, if my machine dies, I guess that will be the end of my ever watching another program recorded on VHS. Kind of bittersweet, for I have tapes dating back to the early-and-mid-80's.

Tapes don't last forever. In fact, I'd guess yours are on that cusp of "could break at any time".
YOu could always transfer them to DVD which has a better shelf life.

I am happy for you!

I have been using the internet since the "compuserve" days and later AOL. Before that my Dad had an Amiga computer that used a 1200 baud modem. The 1200 baud modem was so slow it would take five minutes to download a full page of text. I remember downloading a picture on compuserve and having to wait five minutes for it to load.

Unfortunately where I live now my only option is a 4G modem through Sprint. I pay 120 dollars a month for it and have a 40gb data cap. The good news is the local electric Co-op is talking about installing fiber on its power lines. Tennessee state law prohibits electric co-ops from operating internet services so they will lease the lines to an ISP. Maybe soon I can get true broadband!
