And when you're dead are you really going to care that FB knows you like Pizza, that your sister is named Mary and you work at Republic Steel?
In other words: so what? I just had dinner with a friend honestly last night that I haven't seen in 20 years. Do you know how we reconnected? Facebook. It's worth it to me.
For every thing every FB hater complains about, I can show you 2 things that make it worth it.

There are some really creepy "friend requests" from Facebook. I just block 'em and keep on truckin'.

Exactly ... been running FB on my phone and PC for years, and get very little spam to the email address that I use for FB, and get zero popups anywhere.

Dude... not long ago I posted a link that explained step for step how to adjust privacy level on FB. It's up to the user to acknowledge and take appropriate action. They provided the tool.
Many of my friends who constantly complain about "them" invading their privacy didn't took the time to even click on that link...

Back to OP - Google it and find the privacy guide. Adjust your settings.
Internet is a ...Web. Everything is connected and nothing is ever deleted. While you might not remember what info you entered years ago, the servers forget nothing. Ever.

They trick you into agreeing to D/L your contacts from your PC and then send out invites to everybody in your address book. I won't give my email address to anybody who uses FB.

And me join FB? Only with a gun to my head!

That's ridiculous. Even IF what you said is true (it is not in any way shape or form, I promise you) you won't give someone on FB your email address.... because FB might send you.... an INVITE!!!

The Facebook paranoia is rampant here on C-D.
