Not sure how to ask this question. My personal laptop is not available to me right now- I’m in a different state on business. I have my company laptop and our security protocol is tight. I need to access my personal bank account using a secure connection at a friends house. I am curious if my company can see where I’ve been if I’m not connected to their server - I’m leery to access my bank as I’ve been hacked when I was with another bank.
Your company can certainly have something monitoring all your connections. That said, whether or not they are actually doing that is another story.
Logging takes a lot of resources. And there are different levels of what one can do - e.g. just logging where you go, vs. seeing what you are actually transmitting. In either case, the likelihood of them actually looking at your bank info is slim to none as there are liabilities that they want to avoid as well as just not having to bother with it (unless you work for someone that is serious about security). In most cases, VPN's to your work are usually done via what they call "split-tunneling". Meaning any traffic that is work related goes through to your work, but your personal traffic will likely just go through the internet connection you have. This limits the resources required by your company since they likely don't want to be your ISP. Sure they can still have stuff on your computer - but that's more often to protect their data than it is to actually spy on you.
In any case, your connection to your bank is fairly secure (usually across an encrypted session). And from a practicality/realistic perspective - Unless your friend is a cybersecurity expert, I would say there is probably more protection on your work laptop than your friends personal laptop. In that sense, there is probably still less risk using your work laptop to access your Online banking service.
Just the perspective of an information security professional.

Need? Or want? With my bank, I would call the bank and they would help me do what I wanted. Sometimes we forget that a banker is working FOR the customer. If that is not the case, then it is time to change banks.
i use a fedora live-usb for when i travel (my corporation uses ms-windows) so all of my web traffic is opaque to them.
