Should adblockers continue to exist undeterred? (CD, screens, server, remove)

It blocks Google ads on my site, 1 to 3 per page depending on the amount of content. 1 ad if you are logged in....still blocked....
About 15 years ago I think it was Norton with one of the first adblockers was blocking images on one of my sites . Why? They were in a folder called banners and they had nothing to do with advertising. Moving them out of the folder called banners unblocked them. The same thing applies today. Adblocker depends on consistency, they can easily block Google ads because they know the source. Direct ads on my site are not affected because it has no idea it's an ad and if they happen to figure it out I'll simply adjust.
If I wish to show you ads you will see ads. It's not a question of if I can force ads onto you, it's a question of whether I want to.
Seriously - just how are you going to do that? The only way would be not to run interactive ads at all.
If people were doing that - running only non-interactive ads, no videos or music bull**** (links are ok as long as it is MY option to click or not) I would be fine with ads (as long as they're not violent or porn).
As long as they aren't overlaid, that's another bull**** move I won't tolerate. As another poster said, run them down the side or along the top and bottom. I don't even mind if they're interspersed through the text (block of text, silent ad, block of text, silent ad etc).
But NOOOOOO. Greedy website owners want to shove crappy ads for crap I would never even consider buying (or even looking at) into my face at full volume. I've stumbled across sites that load ad after ad after ad after ad - sometimes SIMULTANEOUSLY so its just total pandemonium and you can't understand what any of them are trying to sell even if you wanted to.
I have seen things in ads that I had never seen before and wish I could unsee. Really nasty perverted stuff, porn or violence or porn AND violence. There is NO WAY I will ever run any browser without an effective ad blocker. EVER.
I blacklist aggressive ad sites entirely. FamilyHandyman.com is blocked because they buy aggressive obnoxious ads that have rarely gotten through my filters. I have a slew of aggressive advertisers who are blocked, and I also block sites that allow those types of ads.
Screw me JUST ONCE and you are blacklisted forever.
Maybe you CAN "force" me to watch ads - but I guarandamntee you it will only be the once. I will kill the browser through the Task Manager if I have to - and sometimes I have had to. The ONLY time I ever get a virus through my web browser is from somebody's s*itty ad.
We don't. Go ahead and try to block my adblocker - I'll just blacklist your site anyway.
Can you recommend something that would allow me to blacklist a site in my own browser? I don't want to tell others not to go there, but there are some sites out there with interesting names, and no value whatsoever. Something like a "bookmarks of bad sites" that would black out (or reverse the colors) of sites you previously decide you never want to waste time with again.

LoL! I have a similar problem with a couple of news papers I want paper copies of. The will print them, but they want an arm and a leg, and I just spent my last leg. So, for them, I turn off my add blocker before reading them, since they are smart enough not to have obtrusive and annoying adds. Sometimes I even click on the adds, just to give them revenue.

No, that would be the sites I went through the code on, found what I wanted, and downloaded the article surgically to my hard drive. Wouldn't have done that, but he violated our agreement.
Seriously - just how are you going to do that? The only way would be not to run interactive ads at all.
When you have direct advertisers like I have there is a ridiculous amount of options on the table because the adblocker cannot profile the ads easily.

For example if I wanted to be a real ******* I can do a CSS overlay that can only be closed with javascript that includes the ad code. Thus if you are blocking the ad script you are also blocking the means to view the page.

If you are seeing ad like that I would suggest you need to make a better selection of the websites you are viewing. The top tier ad networks are selective about the sites they allow ads on and certainly do not show ads like that.

You won't ever run into this issue on my site, the back button will suffice.

Actually I do advocate that. Grew up on a corporate farm with a potbellied stove in one of the shops where we worked on stuff, and we burned coal in it. Also, it makes the Environmental whacko's crazy to think of millions of us heating our homes with bituminous, or better, lignite
0 ads on that page. If you want to have a little fun you can get rough estimate of what it would cost to burn money to heat your house at the bottom.
Thanks, I will check it out, and if I ever arrive at your site (and know it is your site, I will exclude your site from blocking, because you seem to be sincere about what you do. Understand, of course, there are sites whose ads are predatory, and that is why we have blockers.
I use an adblocker, simply because many ads are still loud and obnoxious. Although they aren't as bad as they were bad in the 90s or early 2000s they can still be bad. If a site asks me to whitelist it I will as long as I don't get autoplaying ads with the volume maxed out or ads that take up the whole screen, both of which still exist. If that happens you go on the blacklist forever. If content producers dislike adblockers then perhaps they should ask the companies that deliver said ads to dial it back a notch or two. Frankly that's not my problem, that's their problem and I don't want to see it or deal with it.
