Kentucky Representative Tim Couch filed a bill this week to make anonymous posting online illegal.

The bill would require anyone who contributes to a website to register their real name, address and e-mail address with that site.

For the record, it's a bill in the Kentucky state legislature. People who live in the other 49 states have nothing to fear from this bill. Site operators who operate in the other 49 states have nothing to fear either.

The same guy that proposed the bill, stated that enforcement would be a challenge. He nailed that one on the head. Maybe he can take some guidance from the Chinese. They are good at tying up the internet.

Silly. Law enforcement has all it needs already with MAC addresses and access to server logs. So how does this bozo plan to deal with battered women who have to remain anonymous to stay alive?

No wonder. Couch is a Republican. Republicans are always open about prying into your life.

I am a novice when it comes to the internet.

Just visited my first 'unmoderated' forum and would support this bill.

Perhaps Couch and the Republicans are on to something.

From what I saw in this forum there is a large segment of the population which really needs to have its morality legislated.

I would wager the majority of these people are stable, responsible citizens IRL. Young professional women/mothers

How I would love to watch a 'Breaking News' segment featuring exact quotes posted under anonymous screen names. Accountability--yes, I'd support it.

Was that a serious comment?

Yes, but I was not referencing City Data.

Although, months ago, I read a few threads that were 'wild'. Shortly after that I noticed that Moderators/Administrators requested that the forums be kept PG--I was grateful for that.

In 'That' forum, which shall remain anonymous, posters seemed to have the emotional maturity/morality of incorrigible middle school students. As a middle school teacher I don't really enjoy adults with that sort of 'Humor'. IRL they would probably 'Prank' each other or 'Punk' each other--that level of maturity.

Yet they were parents many with advanced degrees.

Often 'Judged' others--so I would enjoy judging them.
