Is anyone happy that Adobe is killing Flash? I never got to learning to create Flash content. I was real good with Director(Shockwave). Now it's all dead, gone, and forgotten. What a waste.
Flash can do a lot of things but the primary use was the delivery of video and audio because there was no standard for this in HTML. Embedding video/audio that was both cross browser and cross platform friendly was an impossibility. Even if you got beyond the cross browser compatibility issues you were still facing the issue of codec compatibility. The only codec that could work with most platforms was MPEG1 which is older than dirt and very high bandwidth compared to modern codecs and even that was no guarantee it would work. You could detect the browser/platform and serve audio/video based on that but it's hack upon hack and maintenance nightmare. Flash made all these problems go away....
HTML5 has standards for video and audio which renders Flash pointless for delivering video and audio.
