Anybody ever had to do this? I have severe sleep apnea, and scheduled to have some major surgery to hopefully cure it. I ran across a video a couple weeks ago from a YouTuber who posted a video on why people should avoid sleep apnea surgery and using the CPAP machine. He had so much misinformation in the video, that I felt someone had to report it. This guy was giving out medical advice and he wasn't a doctor or any type of sleep specialist. In fact, I'm not even sure if he even worked in the medical field at all. He basically said that sleep apnea surgery was only 20% successful, and it was a waste of time. The problem is, the surgery he spoke of was a surgery pertaining to the Uvula, which is only one of many surgical procedures that is performed for those who are trying to treat sleep apnea. In fact, the ASAA (American Sleep Apnea Association) plainly states that this procedure, alone, doesn't cure SA, but is usually performed along side other surgical procedures. He never mentioned any other surgerical procedures, such as maxilla mandibular advancement (MMA) which has nearly 100% success rate.

He, then, went on to say that people should avoid CPAP, because it would freeze people's faces when it's cold, and make people sweaty when it's warm (I've never had either issue), and that the machine is a hassle to take on trips because it's big and heavy (it's not that big and not heavy at all) and that TSA might think it's a weapon if you try to carry it on a plane. WHAT? I've had to carry my CPAP on a plane several times, even out of the country, and never had an issue. There were a few things he stated about the machine that I've had issues with, but it's kind of like closing your eyes and throwing a dart toward the dart board. You're eventually going to hit the dart board at some point.

I guess the reason why this bothered me so badly is that it's medical advice he was giving out, and being one who suffers from the disease, I felt the info he was giving out was dangerous. There were others who also thought his advice was dangerous, but there were also people who were actually quitting their therapy or canceling surgery because of what he said in the video. When people also questioned him about not removing polyps found in the nasal cavities, he questioned if polyps can even be removed (yes, my brother had such surgery years ago.) Another guy on his YouTube page decided to comment about the information in his video (and this is what led me to report the video), and basically said the guy's information was a bit dangerous to SA patients, and the YouTuber's response was for the guy to follow his advise in that it would hopefully kill the guy who had made the comment. I'm sure this guy probably reported the YouTuber, but I decided to also report the video after reading those comments as well. From the gist of everything I gathered, I think he was trying to push for some type of mouth guard that a SA patient would wear at night other than having to use a CPAP or go for surgery. This screamed of SCAM, since there's so many products out on the market now that claim to treat or even cure sleep apnea, but don't do anything (other than make it worse).

Anyway, this was a bit of a rant. Normally I never comment on a video nor report any videos, If I don't like something in a video, I just stop it and move on to another one. But this guy really struck a nerve.
