Apple's Network Diagnostics app showed the status of: Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi Settings, Network Settings, ISP, Internet, and Server. Can someone explain the difference between Wi-Fi Settings and Network Settings? Thank you.

Network = wired. I remember the days when Apple used RS-232.

since apple is technically unix, programs like nmap, tcpdump, wire-shark, ... should work; unless, they disable them for some reason.
