Microsoft is introducing ‘Reserved Storage’ with Windows 10 Build 1903. This will consume a lump of storage from your hard drive which “cannot be removed from the OS” and ensures your computer can receive the latest upgrade...
My only concern is that I read that you will no longer be able to stop or defer updates as we can now. Considering the continual screw ups they hand out I'm getting paranoid. And I wonder what else they are going to drop into that 7GB they have decided to steal from me. I keep reminding myself that this is my effing computer. Not theirs.
If they continue in this vein I'm going to end up using a flavor of Unix and leave MS to rot.

I have already left for OSX. I used to be a strong supporter of Windows, but they drove me away.
At this point Windows 10 is just another experiment. A failed one at that, particularly on mobile which seriously did not need to happen.
Better something like Linux where you get updates but it is never anything on the level of 7 GB or more. I'm not even sure that version updates on the average Linux distribution are that large.
I love Windows 10. None of this bothers me. Of course it's also my job. Puts food on my table, makes my car payment. So I may be biased. A little. But it's no question the best version of Windows we've ever had. 7 being #2. It's fast/ Looks good. Search to find programs or settings is awesome. Dual monitor support is finally where it should have been years ago. EXCELLENT and better then anything Linux has, until they steal the features. Task Manager is better then its ever been with much better and more concise information. Easier for the regular Joe to understand. We don't have to deal with Autoexec, bat or config.sys anymore. GAWD, remember those days?
And yes it SUCKS the way MS forces updates on any Windows computer below the Enterprise Edition. Like at my Office... 40 PC's running PRO and I have NO control over when they get updates. But we've been lucky and have had no major problems with updates other then how long they take.
My work PC has a 500GB hard drive. I won't miss 7GB if it will turn a 45 minute update into a 5 minute one.

Couldn't rep you for this, but pretty much the way I feel too.

I've got tons of free space, so I'm not worried about losing 7 GB. But I am bothered at the encroachment that MS keeps ramping up. They'll do it until we collectively stop them and thus far too few even know or care.
And I don't believe for a moment that future upgrade space is the sole use they will make of those 7 GB.
