I'm in a group where I've felt the need to report a few posts from a particular guy, he is a bully who keeps posting "fake news". In the last report I made, I had the option to mute, ignore, or block him, so I chose ignore, which said I would not see anymore of his posts or comments (I forget which word it used). Well I still see his comments and links. Is "ignore" supposed to work or what? Blocking him doesn't do anything in a group. Thanks.

Really?
I have blocked posters to a group with good results.
But, I think FB software is far from "perfect" in execution. YMMV?

And, I have left groups where certain posters' comments, etc, are acceptable to the moderators.
Why hang with people with different values?

Yes, it states
Once you block someone, that person can no longer see things you post on your timeline, tag you, invite you to events or groups, start a conversation with you, or add you as a friend. Note: Does not include apps, games or groups you both participate in.

I don't know anybody that still facebooks. IMO it's kinda gone the way of My Space. Create a private group tho......or it's really not that private. Then you can just not invite him.

Wow, that's surprising. FB is still the social mecca as far as I can see. So many local groups, my husband even had to create an account because it's the only way his employer is keeping the employees updated. I wish there was another way to interact with my friends, but they're all on FB.

Why can't you just text your friends? There's group texting too....it's not like you need an app for that...........

It might be the social mecca for older people.......or fake identities. Most of my friends haven't been that active on it since right after high school........(a little over 10 yrs ago). Insta is much more popular & personal IMO.

There are 2.6 billion monthly ACTIVE members on FB. lol!

OP, if you block someone on FB, they can't see your posts anywhere unless they create another account.

I just said Insta is more popular & more personal for the younger crowd IMO. My Space stayed active for long past the time it started to go down hill too when many were leaving it or not on it as much. Older people & fake identities destroyed that too.

Active can mean just logging on once to check an acct....I do that too but I don't need an app to communicate with my friends or be on Facebook for hours for that.......

AND O.P. is having trouble blocking somebody.......so it makes no sense to keep using it without creating a private group or just text your friends. Facebook isn't private even if you think it is..........

I guess the blocking works better than the way FB describes it. It's true that I haven't noticed any posts from the bully lately. The people I want to block are few and far between. If there are a lot of ignorant, hateful posts in a group that I need to be in (like my town's speaks out group) I just don't go to the page much. The only site that comes close to replacing FB, in my opinion, is NextDoor, but your friends and family aren't on there, just your neighbors. I get that younger folks are moving to Instagram but I don't feel FB is losing popularity at all.

It might not be losing popularity for your demographic......older people with kids & grandkids love it.
