Haven't looked into it, I see CAT7 is backwards compatible so CAT7 it is.

If you’re wiring up might as well get the best. In my current home the handful of Ethernet connections are Cat 5

That's the way I look at if you are putting something in a wall, at least what is practical.

Cat 5 was practical 20 years ago when wired in...but luckily as every room pretty much has coax MoCA 2.0 works well...

My Blu-Ray DVD player and new television both have RJ-45 connectors. At some point, I will hard wire them to the DSL modem. Right now they are only connected when I want them to be. I have wireless turned off at the modem. It's more secure that way, for one thing, even though I have aluminum siding, and no close neighbors.
