I just got an email that my google mail is almost out of storage. Why are they now limiting you only to 15 gb? They never did that before. I have saved a lot of stuff in folders and I guess that counts too. Right? When I am at 15 gb, will that block me from getting to that email?
I think the 15GB also includes the storage on your google drive. I don't think you will be blocked from getting mail, you just won't be able to save the mail. I've had to thin out my folders and google drive every few years. If you scroll to the bottom of your inbox the amount of GB used and available shows at the bottom. 15GB is a lot of storage unless you are saving videos or high resolution pictures. Also delete all the emails in your trash and spam folder often.
You've always been limited to 15 or so GBs for the free service. They used to offer more storage if you completed their security checks, etc. Maybe they still do, I just haven't seen it being offered recently.
And as bobspez mentioned, that allotment is for ALL of your Google services - so mail, drive, photos, etc.
That said, these accounts are free. So it's easy to just set up multiple ones and use backup/synch and have them as a networked drive.
I thought there may have been an app that allowed you span multiple accounts.
I have 13 gb of emails it is showing. I am deleting and it is not helping. I am concerned I won't get emails of importance if they block them from coming in.

The storage is for all of Google's services under that account. So if you are using Google Drive/backup and sync, Google Photos, etc. then it will count against it. Also - emails themselves generally take very little space. It's attachments that may use up more. So you may want to look for attachments if you are not really using the other services.
Thanks. I did see it is showing photos and I just thought it was email. I did try to delete some emails but did not help much. I have my stuff saved on Google Drive and it also shows Google Drive is part of their limit. So does anyone know what I should or could do? I have things saved on Goggle Drive but it is a paid service. So is it still considered on here or that is the other stuff like emails?

Google drive is free unless you upgrade for more space.

If you're paying for Google Drive but only see 15GB of space, then something is not in alignment. The lowest paid tier is 100GB.
Do you have multiple accounts? Maybe you upgraded one account but are saving things to another account?
