Ok, so you’re using the HDMI extender. I realize it’s not the fire stick but it’s similar.

My point about wifi wasn’t just trying it on the patio, it was trying it right where the Roku is.

If you have a strong signal then an extender won’t give you much.

When I thought I needed an extender, it didn't work very well because it dropped the signal a lot. It turned out that what I really needed was an updated modem, provided free by my internet provider, and an updated router (purchased by moi). But I had terrible signal strength at the front of the house for everything.

An extender will essentially cut your internet in 1/2. As the extender and router need to speak back and forth.

A mesh system is better, but not cheap. They have a back channel to communicate with the base station. It does it in a way that does not cut down on your wifi speed.
