Has anyone been successful in getting Instagram to delete an old, inactive account? I have been unable to log in because it’s been locked due to possible phishing activity. I don’t have access to my email, so I don’t receive the codes that they send. When I click lost password I get a message saying contact Instagram. I have filled several forms to tell them but just received generic emails from Facebook back. Now they don’t even write back so I’m wondering if they even receive my reports any more. I don’t want an inactive account with my pictures floating around. How can I get it deleted ? There has to be a way.
Make a new account under the same identity with the same info and then do a ton of things which violate their TOS. It shouldn't be too difficult, there are lots of things that can trigger a tech giant to go on an account deletion rampage. They should see the inactive account as a "backup account" for this dastardly misbehaving user and promptly remove it.

This is worth a shot. I’m trying to report it. I just want it deleted at this point. I need a quick way to get it deleted.
I have recently run into a series of spam or phishing attempts where people who have never used Instagram have had accounts set up to duplicate their Facebook profiles then have messages sent to people in their Friends list. So far they just have appeared to be probing to see if they can get away with the impersonation. we caught some one doing it to me (I NEVER had an Instagram account) because some of the first people who got messages realized that it wasn't the type of message I would send (another one was sitting right next to me when they got the message) I believe locking down access to the Friends list on Facebook will stop the problem and have recommended that friends and family do that. But I sort of wished I had the Instagram account that matches my Facebook account just to keep such things from happening.
It’s been locked since probably November. For several of those months I left it untouched, didn’t try to log in at all. It hasn’t been deleted. It still appears in peoples friends lists and searches. All the content is there. I am going to check out those links but some of the things I’ve done are filling out every form they have several times, sending Facebook my picture with the code, talked to a live Facebook representative after creating an ad, reporting the profile, using a VPN to try and log in.. I don’t know what else to do. I have no access to the email used to create it. No phone number or Facebook account associated with it.
I don't think you can successfully delete anything on Internet. Once posted, it stays there on serves forever and people can search for the content.
Also, even if YOU ask to delete your account, others can still keep your pictures and responses on their accounts. https://www.cnet.com/how-to/remove-d...from-internet/
Having the same issue when I hit 10K in followers and haven't been able to log in since January, gives me the message:
Sorry, your password was incorrect. Please double-check your password.
And when I request to change password, it gives me this message:
Sorry, we can't send you a login link. Please contact Instagram for more help.
Beyond annoyed, what kind of company doesn't have a direct email for contact.
