One of our Zoom participants has annoying feedback that is broadcast to us when others are trying to talk. It seems to be more sensitive to male (lower) voices. Any idea as to what is causing this, and how to correct it? I know the obvious solution would be to tell the participant to keep their microphone muted unless they are actually talking. However, I am not the host. I suspect the participant is partially aware of the problem.
Have them use a headset if they're not. Or buy them a better one. That's a sure sign of a low quality microphone.
There's a reason we spend big bucks in our company to make sure everyone has headsets certified for Teams from Poly. 100% of the time we can tell if you're on a set of Airpods/Earpods or your laptop mic/speakers.
The participant is aware. When the minister stated there was feedback yesterday, the participant muted their microphone and the problem went away. I don't think anyone else muted their microphones. The minister had previously asked everybody to mute their microphones during the video playback portion of the class some time ago. It has been a cold spring, but last year this participant would go outside during warm weather, causing continuous wind noises.
The host can mute everybody’s microphone if desired. No need to ask. I believe the host can also mute the individual’s microphone if it is making undesired noises.
