Well years ago we did use a coworkers small puppy to run ethernet cable through a suspended ceiling! I climbed a ladder with the puppy with a string tied to his collar while the owner went to the far end of the run (about 75') and popped a tile and called him. The puppy ran off over the light tiles to his owner (who had a treat for him also) We used that method a few times. It was especially good when there wasn't much clearance so we couldn't use the Nerf arrows (needed to arc them in). But I don't think I ever heard of anyone using a fish. (I don't think that would scale too well :-))

My first IT job was in 1985. I was told that a few years prior, when they needed to run RJ-11 cable through the office to provide everyone with a terminal hooked up to the mainframe, they used the computer operator, who was only 5 feet tall and maybe 100 pounds, the same way. It worked, but maybe they should of thought about using a puppy!
2 excellent shares there! I'd be worried about a puppy up in our ceilings. Way to much stuff to get caught on. But I suppose the right rat terrier would be pretty agile.
Imagine being an actual dwarf who is also a certified network guy and your boss telling you "Hey you are the most qualified to do this cabling task, and we have a surprise for you at the end!" while shaking a bag of Twinkies in front of you!

There were jobs at the sewage plant that needed tall people, and other jobs that needed short people. I don't recall anyone being offered a Twinkie, though.
Trivia knowledge that I came across years ago was that ferrets have been used a lot in getting pull wires through conduits and chases. They love running through what look like tunnels to them.
The legit answers to the question are over in the house forum.
I've used heavy gauge grounding wire. Tape the ethernet cable (without end) to the wire and push through a hole. Someone on the other end can grab it using a flexible 4 claw pickup tool to help guide through the hole at the other end.
