Today when I restarted my computer (Win 7 pro), I couldn't open Firefox browser. Got message "Couldn't load XPCOM". I tried to download Firefox again from another browser and still got that same error message. Searched the Internet and it seems it's because new editions of Firefox are no longer supported by Win 8 or older. Finally found a solution: deleted the Mozilla Firefox folder, uninstalled Firefox completely, then downloaded Firefox 115.6.0esr (extended support release) successfully. All my previous settings, bookmarks, and most of the logged-in websites have stayed.

Just to share in case someone else runs into the same problem. (I have never upgraded to any windows after Win 7 pro).

P.S. By the way, for unknown reason, I can't visit Walmart website from Firefox browser, starting a couple months ago.

Ah, yes, using web browsers as the sole way to download things from the web. I remember doing that, long, long ago.

ESR should really be the primary choice for most, as the ESR versions tend to avoid being part of Mozilla's stupid "experiments" (e.g. changing your browser's behavior or config without you knowing). Mozilla's "experiments" are opt-out, of course.
