Quote:
March 31 (Reuters) - Microsoft last week lost European browser market leadership for the first time in years, when Mozilla's Firefox 3 took the top spot from Internet Explorer 7, Web analytics firm StatCounter said on Tuesday.

Mozilla Foundation's Firefox 3 had 35.05 percent of the European Web browser market last week, followed by Internet Explorer 7 (MSFT.O) with 34.54 percent.

With IE6, IE7, and IE8 totaled vs. FF2 + FF3, IE* is obviously in wider use.

Not that it isn't noteworthy. Just offering a little more information.

That FF3 moved into first position partially due to IE7 users upgrading to IE8 indicates that as folks move to IE8, for at least a while FF7 will be in first place in raw numbers.
FF has a ways to go yet to be dominant over IE across the board.

Wonder where the IE6 crowd will go, in time?

35% of the market to replace a product that comes with Windows (90% of OS) to begin with is significant. People are downloading, installing, and using FF. Of course most any country has more tech savvy users than the US does, a sign that Europeans appreciate and implement the better technology.
