There do is a phenomena called "Electromigration" that severely limits the live of solid state electronics and is proportional to the time the device is in use and inversely proportional to the current flowing through it. (this is the main reason overcloaked hardware generally last less than hardware that is running at the designed speed, current is higher when overcloaking)
This being said, devices are designed to last a reasonable amount of time (at least until the warranty expires). So, will having it on all the time reduce the chronological life of your device? likely, but it's also likely that by the time it fails you would be better off upgrading to a new one anyway.
I keep mine on all the time.
