Had to get a new computer today (old one crashed), When I try to watch a YouTube video on Firefox,, I get
Hello, you either have JavaScript turned off or an old version of Adobe's Flash Player. Get the latest Flash player.
In fact, I cannot watch any videos on Firefox, such as MLB.TV.
At tools./options/content, Javascript is checked as enabled.
Fine on IExporer, but not on Firefox. So obviously the problem is not lack of software. I only installed Firefox today.
Simple. It's telling you to update your Flash player - which is what you need to do. Not trying to sound like a smart-alec by saying that, but it's quite literally the truth. YouTube won't work unless the Flash is enabled, and things being the progressive way they are these days, you have to keep the darned thing constantly updated. With Firefox, it doesn't matter if you actually have the software on your system for IE. For whatever reason, Firefox requires a separate Flash plug-in.
OK, I understand now. When I bought my new computer, it did not contain the necessary software to enable Java to work in Firefox, and when I downloaded the latest version of Firefox, it did not contain the necessary features to enable Java. But I had to pay the vendor $30 to remove all the bloatware that WAS in there. Why should that surprise me?

Well, that's pretty damned crappy for someone to charge you $30 to remove junk that you shouldn't have to deal with anyway.
What J Arp said is true, though...you could have done it for free. Oh well, lesson learned.
