I just received a "friend request" from Facebook. I have never been to the Facebook website and wonder how or why I got a request. I am not paranoid but I do my best to keep my info private. I am very concerned that there are businesses making money collecting and selling information on everybody and anybody. I don't want unsolicited sales on my phone, email or snail mail. What is the purpose of Facebook or Myspace?
A friend of yours joined facebook and it sent invites to people in his/her address book based upon your email address. Facebook can be a blessing - but is more often a curse. Just my opinion.
Personally, I like Facebook. It has allowed me to reconnect with people that I haven't heard from since high school - almost 40 years ago. If you're interested in that sort of thing, it's a great tool. If not, then don't join and it will be a lot more difficult for anyone to track you down.
I like facebook, but just like everything, you have to be careful. There are all kinds of scams and tests and stupid things you can do, but if you use it to talk with friends and not do all the stupid stuff, it will keep you from getting in a mess.
