This satellite is another of mankind's attempts to preserve knowledge and remnants of our current civilization. Similar to The Crypt Of Civilization and other time capsules; but with a better chance of actually preserving it's contents and fulfilling it's goal.

It is set for launch within approximately one year and will reenter Earth's atmosphere in about 50,000 years; after 300,000,000 orbits around our planet. It is designed to survive reentry and to be visible during descent by any intelligent beings that may or may not still occupy our biosphere.

I never heard of it until this week; so I thought it would make good science reading and a unique thread. I will add links and videos.

Possibly; but I've seen far worse examples of wasted money, also isn't it all from donations??? . PS..Don't worry...they won't be asking for any of your data inclusion suggestions . Also museums etcetera are institutions meant to preserve mankind's knowledge, paintings, culture...are they too a waste of money??? Is THE LIBRARY OF CONGRESS also a waste of money??? ;-)
