I got arrested for a misdemeanor a couple weeks ago. Stupid mistake and something I have to deal with...

Well ever since then I have been getting spammed by dozens of letters from attorneys looking to represent me. It is getting crazy. How do I put an end to this? Apparently they received my address from public records.

I do not want my kids to answer the mail and see a dozen solicitations from attorneys addressed to me

Does anyone know how to stop this?

You can't. Just throw them away, or write "Return to Sender" and give 'em back.

I don't know what your problem has to do with the Internet, but...

They already have your address and it is perfectly legal for them to send you mail. For your situation, I would get a PO Box nearby, and fill out a Forwarding Address with your post office. Have them forward all your mail from your home address to your PO box. Then you can stop by the PO box every few days and sort through the real mail from the solicitations away from your home.

So is this email or snail mail? The original post makes it sound like it could be either.

The beauty of being specific is priceless.

They do that even for the usual traffic tickets too. It should subside by itself once all the "ambulance chasers" have written you.
