Hello,
I'm considering starting my own business. I need to find a place that will build a website for me that will make my transactions secure and easy. Does anyone have any suggestions?
Thank you in advance.

Amazon.
eBay.
They have prebuilt "storefronts" that do just about everything for you. They get their cut, of course. But all you have to do is manage your inventory, shipping, and advertising. They handle the transactions, the security, the credit cards, and a bunch of other stuff. No need to redesign the wheel when they've already built the car.
If your products are niche, such as arts or jewelry, there might be sites more specific to that clientele, but you would need to look around for them.

Great idea. I'm really looking for a web design & hosting site. My friend paid about $1000 for his. I definitely cannot afford that. Any other ideas?

You need to be more specific about what you want to do. Do you want to handle CC transactions yourself, or do you want to pay a service such as PayPal to do that for you? Are you going to accept cash, check, money order? Will you calculate shipping as part of the check-out process?
Overall, if your friend got a fully designed and hosted website that handles secure CC transactions, I think he got a pretty good deal.
Once you get into the nuts and bolts of securing all the different transactions and calculating shipping and tracking the orders... I think it gets pretty obvious why the hosted sites such as Amazon and eBay are the easiest ways to go.

http://www.shopperpress.com/ is a packaged storefront that works within WordPress. It takes some setup and costs about $70. But if you kind of know what you're doing, it might be an option.
If you don't know how to set it up, you might find someone at Freelancer.com | Online Jobs | Freelance Employment | Outsourcing Services | Programmers | Web Design | Freelancers that will do it for a small fee.
