I would be interested to compare high speed internet prices/speeds.

-How much do you pay for high speed internet service? (doesnt matter
if it is DSL, Cable or whatever..I want to know price vs. speed avg.)

-What is your download speed in BPS (you can google internet speed
test and find somewhere to test it)

-What provider?

I am with A T & T DSL I pay $30 per month for Elite (should be 3-6 bps)
but currently getting 2.0

I don't have a provider at the moment, but I did notice an enormous "positive" difference between cable and hi-speed (Comcast vs. Verizon).

The Comcast was a package: phone, internet and cable @69.95 per/month which I calculated as a better rate than when I had Verizon wireless, plus Verizon phone. If I remember correctly that could run as high as >$100 per/month.

As I am not on either now, I can't compare speeds provided.

I've got Qwest DSL, It costs $29.95 a month, and am currently at 100MBPS, I love it. I had a satellite system, paid sixty bucks a month and it was absolutely horrible.

Default high speed internet? what the heck is that?

What is high speed internet? I have dial up internet and Verizon is sick and tired of me calling them every month to find out when I will be able to get any kind of high speed. I don't care as long as it is faster than my normal 24.0kbps I know I don't pay a lot for it, but it still stinks. That's what you get for really being in the boonies!!!!!!

You might be able to get either Comcast or other local cable company to get you onto high-speed.

Good luck!

Wow, I'm jealous of how little everyone pays. We have Comcast and for cable + internet it's $84.97/month. That's what I get for *not* living in the boonies, I guess. Comcast pretty much has a monopoly on the Chicago suburbs for cable service. Speedtest.net says my speed is 2667 kb/s down and 1494 kb/s up, but I'm on a wireless network connection so that probably slows it down.
