Analysis: Economic pain takes toll on U.S. earnings forecasts - Yahoo! Finance

Well, if people (customers) aren't doing well, and you've already laid everyone off that you can, what are you left with??? It would only make sense that corporate earnings start to take a nosedive, except, the default response of laying off all your workers may no longer be in the cards... And of course, this European crap is not going away, just like we said it wasn't going away 6 months ago, and before. Kickin the can down the road... Hope you all were shorting in May, and I might even consider shorting for June.

Nothing is going to change before the election....Europe will still have its problems but we'll get some more clarity after November...

You're telling me that nothing will change if corporate earnings stink, coupled with these puny job numbers we keep seeing? Nothing will change as a result of reduced GDP and consumption in Europe, which happens to be a huge market force in this global economy? I think the election is merely noise compared to these real issues at hand.
