as a civilization we have been living way beyond our means for a very long time. A reduction in the standard of living/ quality of live has been inevitable and the only way we will ever regain what we once had is to move beyond Earth.
True the baby boomers are stealing but not nearly as much as the poor.
Think about it all the debt is from social security Medicare and welfare which go overwhelmingly to the poor. We get rid of this wealth distribution and we can save this country.

Been there done that.In the last thread like this I took a neutral stance and pointed out to each generation the others very valid arguments. To heck with that, I am a Gen Xer and i take the side of the kids. The Boomers were nastier and bitter in their responses.

Boomers are providing the majority of the tax revenue, without them the debt would be even worse with so many (mostly younger) people benefiting from the many entitlements. Social Security and medicare they have paid for over their working lives. Have a look at your check stub some time. Take those two line items and multiply times 24 for a year, then 40-50 for the working years and see what it adds up to. Then that can be multiplied again by as much as 10 times for those boomers that were in high paying jobs.

I'm Gen X but would disagree with you that SS and Medicare is going overwhelmingly to the poor - they are going to the retired and elderly.
Medicaid to the poor.
Since I'm only a hop, skip, and a jump away from the boomers - I will say only that I've given everything I had to raise my child; anything I could do for him, I did.
IF 40 years from now - he wants to blame me for the state of the world - so be it.
It is not that hard to understand. Imagine the earth as an apple pie. In the last 50 years the population has doubled that means that there are twice as many people fighting for the same pie. There is just not enough resources to continue supporting the living standard we have become accustom too. The sooner people realize this and quit trying to scapegoat each other the soon we can move on to more noble pursuits like colonizing space where there is an infinite amount of resources.
