I am considering this and wonder if anyone else does. Specifically to keep MAGI down.

I have have had no use for one. Anything kept in cash instruments is for spending now and anything not needed that I would defer would be in higher yielding investments.

What higher yielding deferred investment is there that does not suffer from potential Stock Market volatility?

Quite a few .for low volatility and short term I would use something like the fidelity insight income model which is a bunch of assorted bond funds and a smidgon of a low volatility stock fund. It is about 70% less volatile than the s&p . I don’t mind slight volatility on shorter term money

I am a big proponent of MYGAs for fixed income allocations, especially when tax deferral is an objective. Recently bought a new home and could have paid cash but opted instead to take a 300k 30 year mortgage @3.9% and invested the funds in a 7 year MYGA paying 4.1%.

Everywhere I read folks say MYGAs fetch a little more than CDs. Nowhere can I find that to be true. Using CD Rates web site and immediateannuities.com. All things Being equal Am Best ratings of A or above to Insurance companies and CDs can be found for better rates. I understand they are not tax deferred, but the overall return seems to be better in most if not all cases. I do not want a company with anything below an A for rating. Looking and comparing 1 - 5 years. 1 year CDs beat MYGAs most all of the time.
