but not too long ago Tesla owners were using weights purchased on Amazon attached to the steering wheel to override the sensors that prevent the system from shutting off if hands are not detected. That's how brazen some people were getting. Other automakers have successfully integrated eye tracking systems that allow hands off the wheel but still maintain attentiveness. I guess I'm surprised Tesla is lacking here considering how advanced they are----------

Soon, someone will go to China and make artificial hands to place on the steering wheels .
Question: if others already have systems that monitor eye contact which is less easy to defeat than sensors on the wheel, why doesn't Tesla?--
would that be RETROFITTING?
It costs money,you know

It takes more than weights, you need to move it some. Also, eye tracking is easily spoofed with sunglasses.
It would be kind of fun to watch you attempt to steal gas from a car. That happened a lot in the 70's and it didn't usually work out too well. OTOH, you could copy the adults and fill up your tank in case you needed to get out of Dodge. Frankly, if I owned a Tesla I'd charge her up and drive very far away from the hurricane. But I think you already knew that.
