They pay you a higher interest rate. That’s your “early maturity fee”.

They never did call it away. It was supposed to be called near the end of January but as of this morning, it still hasn't been called. I wonder if they figured out rates aren't going to drop anytime soon so they didn't call it?

That's very odd, if they gave notice that it was called I didn't think they could rescind that notice, since others may have traded the CD based on that information. Doesn't make sense.
