Where to get investment statistics at the city level? (how much, year, research)

Hi, everyone,

I am doing a research about American cities and need to gather some data about how much is invested in a city annually, i.e. the total amount of investment (domestic and international) for a city per year. I found nothing in the US Census Bureau and BEA. Could someone tell me where I should look for data like that? Local chambers of commerce or county/city business and development departments/offices?
