Hi,

My Wife and I (lesbians here), are highly considering moving to Iowa City from the Philadelphia area, and can't wait to hear about your visit. We recently married in CT and after 6 years together are ready to start a family. But, not here! We want to move to an accepting place where our soon to be kids won't be picked on for having 2 moms. Also, I want to go to nursing school and become a nurse, and don't want to be out of place. Plus we are black and hispanic, so we are very concerned about being welcomed.

We are both in our late 20's, laid back, and not into the party scene. Actually, we just work and come home and occasionally do some fun things like Kayaking and bowling. Yes, boring. LOL.

Well, that leaves Iowa City out for me. Like San Francisco. Has to be the college atmosphere. Ames is getting there and Des Moines is full of gay/lesbian people. And they wonder why our country is going into the tank.

Here's something that will make the ears pop on homophobes like the one above:

CR Gazette Headline:

Iowa Same-sex households up 77 percent in a decade

@Heckler, I can't be upset with your statement. If you made sense, then yeah, maybe.

The lesbian part won't be an issue at all. There are black/hispanics in the Iowa City area. It's certainly more white than anything, but it's not like you'll stand out or people will stare or anything.

In the area there are around 19,500 minorities.

Black: 6,300
Hispanic: 6,200
Asian: 7,000
