My wife and I are going to a concert at the Blue Moose on Iowa Ave in a few weeks and are stay a few blocks away at the Sheraton. The concert ends at midnight and I'm wondering if it's a good idea to walk back to the hotel or take a cab.

We are leaving Iowa City early Sunday morning to catch our train in Burlington by 10:30 AM. I'm assuming there will be no traffic issues at that time of the morning. Also looking for a place to have a nice breakfast on our way out of town.

Thanks in advance.

Walking would be fine and much faster than dealing with a cab...you'll just be headed 2 blocks down the pedestrian mall. There will be people out and about at the bars at that time of night.

Traffic won't be an issue. Breakfast spots: The Hamburg Inn is an Iowa City classic, and the Blue Bird Diner would be another one that gets good reviews. Both are in downtown, not far from your hotel.

Actually, the breakfast pizza and the Motley Cow is really good, too, although I'm not sure what time they open.

Nothing as exciting as it might sound...just an old username I reused related to buying my first Pontiac car, and wanting some advice on it

It is common for people who stay in downtown hotels to walk back to their rooms at night.

My daughter worked downtown for a couple of years while at UI and would walk back to her apartment late at night, never encountered any problems. She said as long as there were other people around she felt safe.

Just don't walk back intoxicated. IA City PD is on a tear about public intox ever since the city was named a party school.

I agree that it's safe to walk-it will probably be entertaining to see all the scantily clad co-eds.

I also agree with the Hamburg Inn for breakfast-great all american fare and the place is a landmark so you should stop by. Blue Bird is great too and just around the corner.

Completely safe to walk. It's literally just a few minutes away.

Thanks, I'm a long time Pontiac owner myself, GP stands for Grand Prix.

Thanks to everyone for their input about walking back to the hotel, I don't drink so looks like I have nothing to worry about.
