PrairieHawkMom- I am passing on the Cedar Rapids property. I'm between 2 rental properties right now, one in North Liberty...where my kids would go to Van Allen or a property in Iowa City where my kids would go to Horn Elementary....hopefully deciding soon!!

Thanks for the continued discussion

@carshell van allen is the second newest elementary in north liberty. It is less than 8 years old I believe. Depending on where you are looking, it might even be within walking distance. Good Luck!

Ripped from today's headlines ( via KCRG/Gazette )
(Links aren't working but these are the headlines )

(North Liberty residents predominantly)

Could you find numerous police call-outs for Iowa City? Sure. But if you eliminate the public intox and similar calls that are limited to the downtown bars and college students, it is not so staggering.
For its size North Liberty has a reputation for drug issues and other problems. Between the two, I would go with Iowa City in a heartbeat. Just perhaps not near the campus/ bar scene.

Regarding the "KCRG Headline".... Nonsense. North Liberty is just as good an area as Iowa City. I lived for many years in both locations. It just depends on your preference.

All 3 of my kids went to Horn Elementary. It is a GREAT school.... one of the best in Iowa City.
