Here is an article I found on another state forum on C-D today that includes Iowa City.

The Writer's Workshop is known & well-regarded in literary circles around the globe.
The extra layer of cultural activities that it brings to Iowa City is a feather in the cap to the university & the city.
If you can't find enough to interest you or keep you busy on the cultural side of things in the area, you aren't looking for it or are not informed.
