I'm considering relocating to the Iowa City/Cedar Rapids area and am wondering about boating. In looking at maps I see Lake McBride, Coralville Lake and the Iowa River. I'm wondering what boating is like in these areas? Are these areas good for fishing? I'm also curious to know if you can boat with a ski boat in the Cedar River? Would appreciate any info. Thanks

Yes, you can ski on the Cedar River, at least in Cedar Rapids.

Boating on the Coralville Lake is very popular but can get crowded with a lot of partying. I think they've cracked down on the number of drunks out there.

I've been kayaking and canoeing on Lake MacBride before. I've seen pontoons out there, but I don't think other motor boats are allowed on the lake, though I could be wrong.

I don't think it's safe to eat fish from the Cedar River ... again, at least, in the Cedar Rapids area. I do see people fishing there though.

Sorry I can't be of more help.

This is a lot of help. Thank you. The main thing I was wondering was if you could run a motor boat on the cedar river. So good to know that you can. Thanks again I appreciate it.
