Per today's press conference, longtime Strength and Conditioning coach Chris Doyle has accepted a $1.1 million settlement to step down effective today.

For those who haven't been following, multiple players (both past and present) have accused Doyle of biased treatment toward African-American athletes, and there seems to have been a history of this going on at least 10 years now. Most of the former players weren't calling for his head, but they were hoping to facilitate some change during training/practice. Doyle wasn't the only coach that was named, but he was by far and away the one most often mentioned. He was placed on administrative leave while the university investigated, and in the meantime his assistant, Ray Brathwaite (who is himself African-American) was named interim head S&C coach (which will in all likelihood be his permanent position).

This should come as a surprise to nobody, particularly since his son Dillon announced his intent to transfer a few days ago.

It was basically thrown at him to avoid a lawsuit (and a bigger payout). I don't know if there's a "no show" clause which prevents Doyle from being employed (at least collegiately) for X amount of months or years, but if not, I'm sure some program will gladly snatch him up.

His son Dillon also announced a transfer to Baylor. Interesting choice.
