Our family is moving to IC or Coralville this summer and we need a recommendation on a good realtor. We would like someone who specializes in buyers and relocations as we are moving there from Dallas and need the inside scoop on schools, neighborhoods, etc.

I'd recommend Danette Raley, (Iowa Real Estate Iowa Real Estate For Sale Iowa City Real Estate Iowa City Real Estate For Sale) she showed us many houses while we were looking for our current home. She is very honest and will not sell you a house if she thinks there is something wrong with it. (She told us flat out not to buy a couple of the homes she showed us.) There are other reputable realtors in the area, of course, but our experience with her was excellent. Two of our neighbors sold their home with her and felt the same way.

I'll add that you don't need to worry much about schools and neighborhoods in IC/Coralville. The only schools that aren't great are Twain and Wood, and the only neighborhoods that aren't great are south of Hwy. 6 and east of Gilbert. And even there, there's only the occasional crime. You really can't go terribly wrong in this area.

I hope for the best of luck in your move and welcome to Iowa City!

^ well I'd also keep an eye on Kirkwood and Roosevelt, and there are areas of Coralville below I-80 that you should keep an eye on as far as depreciating.
