I've noticed over the past few weeks a recurring stench...I think it's manure, but I'm not sure. I didn't notice any odors when I arrived here in late summer. I'm afraid to ask what it is, but I am curious.

Only time I had every smelled anything was when a huge storm would slam through once every few years from just the right direction and push farm smells into town. Otherwise I've never heard anyone say anything about Iowa City smelling. Maybe you just have a sensitive nose or really bad luck

I've always blamed any strange smells in the IC area (which are rare) on wind blowing Cedar Rapids air south...

It could have been the Hawkeye's mens basketball team the first games of the season. They really stunk. Hopefully, the rest of the year they'll "clean up" their game.

My friends say it is CR. I was there hanging out with friends when there was a pretty strong north wind and IC did smell. Fortunately, I don't think that happens frequently.
