We are thinking of buying an older home (1915) that needs a bit of repair in Belle Plaine. We would like to retire there, as we are both 50. My husband is disabled, I am a RN. We both want an area that is back to a simpler way of life, lower cost of living, and a relief from this humidity/heat in Pensacola Florida. We've lived in Ky & Mass. until 1990, so we're very familiar with snow. Thoughts? ideas? Suggestions? all appreciated greatly.

Default Living in B.P.

Roxy. . .no one else has responded yet so I will. .. I went to school here in Belle Plaine all my life, graduated, and ran off around the world for quite a few years. . .about five years ago I moved back to my old hometown and it has been a lot of fun! .. ..It's a pretty nice little town with a lot of things going for it right now ....the big thing being the upcoming renovation of our main street! .. .this time next year you won't recognize it! .. .this is due to the Main Street Iowa program, and the Iowa Department of Economic Development. If your an outdoors person at all there is lots of fishing and hunting to get into, a fairly decent sized river just south of town, several lakes within 30 miles, etc. And this year the schools just opened with new additions and renovations. . ...all in all a nice town with many things to keep yourself involved with. . .let me know if I can provide any specifics you may be looking for. . .

Johnny

Hi Roxy,
I know this was an old post but if you haven’t already found a place, I have a Parsonage/Church for sale if you’re interested. It will need work, but the local contractors there in Belle Plaine are wonderful to deal with. If you’re interested email me and I will send you information. alanandkatiebuyhomes@yahoo.com
