The zoo closed down several years ago. Bever Park is beautiful and is one of the oldest parks in Cedar Rapids. The Bever area includes neighborhoods with beautiful old homes/mansions and also an area that is very low income with crime, but you are making a vast generalization of the area when you refer to it as the "ghetto."

No, Bever Park is not only a zoo but a section of the city, as in the Bever Park neighborhood.
I mentioned Bever Park as a response to your "..anything with a Bever in the name.." ghetto comment.

Thanks for yalls input and suggestions. Yes, we have been looking in Marion and the Bowman woods area. I absolutely HATE the split entry way homes in Bowman Woods. Lol I love my French Country home we are selling and wish there were houses that looked like our up there. Lol. I would even settle for a ranch ( another style I despise) if we could add a big porch. Trying to talk hubby into just having a home built, a craftsman, now finding a spot is turning out challenging. We definitely want to be in the Linn Mar school district. Our school district here in Atoka, TN is AAA+ and has been rated the highest in the area for the last 4 years. Cannot justify moving my kids from that kind of school system to a school rated as a C or D. Thanks also for the Bever and Grande area info. I love the houses but they are not worth putting up with the crime and bad influences involved.
