Is Emerson a good place to live? Any of the other nearby towns in the area?

What about schools? Housing? Utilities? Internet?

Nobody has answered you yet, so I thought I should try to give you what little information I have about Emerson.

Are you talking about the Emerson in southwest Iowa, about 20 minutes from Glenwood, Red Oak and Shenandoah? If so, it is a very small town. I pass through it every day that I go to work. I haven't heard anything bad about Emerson, but I do wish they would do a better job at keeping the roads plowed and salted during the winters...I know of 3 people who have gotten into spinoffs there (I was in the car when one happened, although I wasn't driving).

Since it is a small town, there are probably limited housing options. There are a few newer houses there, and several older homes. Don't know if any are on sale.

If you will be working in Emerson, then Emerson is probably as good of a choice as any small town in the area. If you're not a fan of small town life, living in a suburb of Omaha could be a possibility if you're willing to do an hour commute each way. Emerson is probably less than 1000 people, so if you still want small town life but with a few more amenities, Shenandoah and Glenwood are 20 minutes away. Red Oak is about 20 minutes away as well - not a bad community, but a lot of businesses have left Red Oak and it may not have the greatest future because of it.
