I am looking for a small community to live in and commute to Dubuque to work. What cities would you suggest and where might i find rental housing information?

I appreciate all the help in advance.

The local paper has some listings as well as craigslist. I'll warn you though, the pickings are pretty slim. I've been here for almost 8 months and can't find the right house to rent, but then again I have 4 kids, a dog and a cat. A lot of the houses here are pretty old (75 - 100 years) and they don't have garages. I have a lot of tools and that doesn't work for me.

Hope this helps. Here's the link to the local paper:

Yes I am in a similar situation, that is we have 4 kids. No pets though and yes I am not finding much in the way of living that I am used to having. I do prefer to have at least a one car garage as I too have tools.

Your best bet may be on the Wisconsin side. Cuba City, Hazel Green, Dickyville, Keiler. depends on what you are looking for in a community and how far out you want to be.

To the West that were not mentioned are Peosta, Epworth, and Farley.

Within a half hour of city limits you have Dyersville to the west and Maquoketa to the south.
