longtimenosee,
It sounds like it's all a little too personal from your perspective and maybe you should register since you seem to have the complete inside on all of this. I think most of that is very exaggerated and with that goes much of your credibility. I think you should be very ashamed to sit here on a public forum and generalize Iowans as racist and violent rapists who have sex with family members. YOU ARE APPAULING AND YOU MAKE ME SICK.

p.s. go to hell please.

I am 31 years old and may be relocating to the Cedar Rapids area for work. Is there any place you guys would suggest for a single girl who knows noone in this area?

Couldn't agree more - and if *trees* are your thing, I'd lean toward Mt. Vernon, sounds like exactly what you're looking for. I live in Marion though, and I wouldn't pass up looking here as well.

I'd start with those and see what you think.

I don't know what the downtown living situation is right now (post flood) but that's where I would start. Renting or buying? You should start a new thread to get the best responses - the OP is looking for something that may be a little different than what will best suit you.

What ever you do, dont move to Williamsburg, 30 minutes from Cedar Rapids. It is full of snobs. If the folks don't know your last name, forger trying to fit in. Good luck in your search.

Thanks!
I know this is an older post, but now more than ever I have to chime in. AVOID THE SE SIDE!
I live in SW C.R. and I will not even drive through that section of town. In the last few months we have had 4 officers assaulted - one nearly killed - weekly shootings. It is a huge hotbed of criminal activity.
Please Google or go to the website for tv station KCRG and search on SE CR crime. It will amaze you that this is happening in Iowa.

I didn't know it was that bad in Iowa. Do you think it's spillover from Chicago?
