I am interested in these 2 towns because my mother lived in both of them as a child. Can anyone provide information concerning hotels, motels, restaurants and sightseeing locations? I could check on the internet, but was hoping to gather information first hand, so to speak. Thank you.

I'd look into Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin for hotels and restaurants considering it's bigger and only right across the Mississippi River.

As for sightseeing, check out Effigy Mounds National Monument and Pikes Peak State Park. They're both very close to Marquette/McGregor.

The area up there in Northeast Iowa sure is pretty!

Thanks for the info. Will check into what you suggested. I was in that area many years ago and remember that it was a very part of Iowa.

Tried to give you a rep pt. but I've given out way too many today.

Yep Stevie.. I agree with you.

Also there is Isle of Capri Casino right there on Mississippi River on Iowa side just south of US 18 in Marquette.

I live in southwestern part of Clayton County whereas Marquette/McGregor is in opposite side (northeastern part of this county).

Mississippi River just happened to rise the flood level this week due to heavy rain past this week even last week from Minnesota. The water almost reached the first road in Prairie du Chien from the river.

Hope you (Northwoods Voyager) find something useful for anything you are looking for.

Have a great evening

Thank you for helping. I really do appreciate this. My visit may be in October this fall. Otherwise I have to wait until Springtime. I have made note of these posts and sounds pretty good to me. Thanks again.

Found out that my mothers family had a reunion in that area this past June. so hopefully will have more info.
