Which side would you say is more prosperous? I think NE Iowa seems better,in terms of how it is kept up.

Yes Im from wisconsin but I consider myself a very fair person, I try not to take sides yadda yadda yadda....but I'm going to go with SW Wisconsin....by a long shot....Dubuque is stunning, classic, and very fascinating to me, but you can not beat the southwest Wisconsin. Im speaking in terms of the land, all the small villages, and the feeling it gives certain people. Both have a similar set of feeling to them, but I prefer Wisconsin's way more. Wisconsin's just seem to be larger, more enchanting, and unique. I was actually just in Iowa yesterday (saturday the 7th)....spent some quality time in Dubuque taking photographs, then I ventured down 52 to Holy Cross, and spent the remainder of the day on backroads trying to run into something interesting....Despite the awful overcast, and raindrops here and there, I made the best out of it.

The areas along 151 I think in Wisconsin are kept up pretty good. Platteville is a nice town. So are mineral Point and Dodgeville. I actually meant more along the river. Most of the towns look rundown(Cassville,Prairie Du Chien,DeSoto.

I see but ehhh....I prefer the "rundown" places much more, much more potential for a good shot, and much more interesting to imagine what it used to be...there's a great amount of mystique in the whole scheme I think...How much money are in these areas ? I mean, most of the counties in this area I'd be willing to bet...dont have a lot of extra dough and can only do so much. There isnt a place within the area were speaking of that REALLY stands out...I dont think one place is better than another place.

Two years ago I drove N to S down the Mississippi on the Iowa side as far as Dubuque, then drove up the River Road on the east (Wisconsin) side as far as LaCrosse. I did feel that there was definitely a more prosperous vibe on the Iowa side. Prairie du Chien has such an important and interesting history, but it seems like a pretty run-down area today. I got the same impression about the other river communities on the Wisconsin side. But either side, east or west, it's still beautiful country!
