Hi there. Me and my wife will be moving to the Quad City Area soon, and we are looking to move into Bettendorf. We are looking at renting at first, until we get to know the area and the best places to buy a house.

I just have a few questions...

1. Does anyone have any experience with the Chateau Knoll Apartments?

2. Does anyone know of any places to find Townhouses or Houses for rent in Bettendorf?

Any help would be appreciated. Neither of us have been to Iowa or Illinois and we know absolutely nothing about the area. Everything we have found online points to Bettendorf being the safest and best place to live in the immediate Quad City area.

Bettendorf is definitely the nicest and safest of the QC. I've never been inside Chateau Knoll but from the outside it looks nice, a little old and dated, but not bad. I'd recommend the Regency (lived there 4 years ago, it was nice), and there's a couple newer apartments: Springs at Bettendorf, Villas at Devils Glen and in Davenport there's Cross Creek Apartments by the Walmart off 53rd St.

I havent seen many townhouses in the area, but you might be able to find individual owners renting houses or duplexes but I haven't seen many complexes.

I'm not sure how I missed this thread.

Lots of townhouses in the Grant Wood elementary school neighborhood on Hawthorne and Magnolia. I rented there years ago.

I remember the owner was named Marilyn Wallace, and writing rent checks to LeMar properties or LeMar real estate, something like that.

Chateau Knoll was always a middle class, nice enough place.

I've always heard it referenced as Chateau Hole, but take that with a grain of salt. I've never been there. Depending on where in Bettendorf you'll be working and living, we've had good luck with Kimberly Club on the border of the two. (The KC side of the street is in Davenport, across the street is Bettendorf). They have townhouses, but they seem to be hard to get into. GL with your move! Also, on safety - there's a crummy section of Davenport that's a little worse than the crummy section of Bettendorf. Where Rock Island's place falls is also debatable. Crime is not really that big of a deal in most areas of the QC, so be sure to look around and find out which schools and neighborhoods you like. There are a lot of family friendly places to be.

Living at Chateau now for the second time. Things have changed and have not had a positive experience. Seems to be a high turnover out here. I'd like to go into detail about the place but better not. Bettendorf is a nice little place. Try "The Regency" or "The Springs at Bettendorf". For the money you could get newer than Chateau with "The Regency" or brand new at "The Springs". Other than those two places, I would recommend finding a house to rent.
