I have used US Cellular and Verizon and prefer Verizon. Better coverage and less dropped calls. I haven't found any "dead spots" where my phone doens't work with Verizion. I have heard that AT&T doesn't work very well on Highway 20 (northern iowa).

Thanks I have been on the bubble between Verizon and At&T. I will check out Verizon again and go from there.

In terms of prepaid services in the CR/IC area, your best bet (in my opinion) is either iwireless or US Cell. I have to disclose, I'm a bit biased because I worked for both companies in a former life and my ex is an iws exec, so I'll tell you what I know! iwireless can't be beat on price... they are headquartered in Des Moines (technically Urbandale), but are "hubbed" in Eastern Iowa. Check out their website at index3.htm and pay particular attention to their MegaTalk program. The ONE complaint I'd have is that, until they complete their network upgrades, you will sometimes experience difficulties getting reception/dropping calls during peak hours. As for US Cell, I've had their regular postpaid service for several years and I KNOW that it can't be beat for service. I pay a bit more than I probably would with Verizon or another carrier, but I know that, when I go home to the sticks, I'm getting service no matter what. I have YET to drop a call and go without reception... no matter where I am. On the other hand, they are slow to adapt to new technology and their customer service basically sucks

My two cents for what it's worth. I've had verizon, wasn't happy with the dropped calls, and lack of coverage in the areas I wanted to use my phone in, mainly eastern Iowa. I've had US cellular for a few years now, couldn't be happier, unless it were free. lol

We use AT&T at work and the only place I have any trouble is in my kitchen. I don't hear my coworkers ever complain about their signals at all. So, I think you would be safe with them.

I love US Cellular and have been with them over 5 years. I gave Verizon a try for a year and could not find a good match for the time I make calls. It seemed like my bills were always more than I expected. Coverage is good with both providers although there are a few bad spots in the more rural areas but that's improved greatly over the last few years. Don't remember too many dropped calls with either. I tried Nextel(Sprint) for 28 days because my husband liked a phone they had. BAD, BAD, avoid at all costs!!!! They couldn't get our numbers switched over and supposedly had a 30 day trail period. After I shipped the phones back to them they sent me a bill for over $700 for the two phones claiming I used more than 100 minutes that was allowed on the trial. 85 of the minutes was spent on the phone with them trying to get the numbers switched. I will never do business with them again needless to say.
